Full Name: Prenna D'tella
Species: Mounty - Domestic Cat (Silvestri)
Function: Biology Major Working Towards Veterinary
Group: First Year
Quote: "You can't eat it once you've named it..."
How much experience do you have with roleplaying? How much time have you spent on MUSHs/MUXs/etc.? Several years with the tabletop, none with the online
What is your character's personality? She's reserved and a little bit shy, unless animals are involved. Then she's a bit more open, but her main focus is going to be on the animals. She's hardworking, and tries to be helpful when she can.
What things does she like? All varieties of animals and wildlife, reading (especially fantasy), trying new foods
Dislike? Cruelty to animals (or anyone), being the center of attention
What are the strong points of your character? She is dedicated and hard working and will always help when she can.
Weak points? She is reluctant to initiate contact with others, usually hanging in the background until someone notices her. A greater tendency to ankle injury if involved in strenuous athletics.
Name one thing your character would never do and why. Waste food. She knows how much effort goes into growing it and preparing it, so the least one can do is eat it.
How does she interact with others? She tends to be a bit shy around others and will rarely initiate conversations with someone she doesn't know, unless they have a pet.
What are their abilities, hobbies, things they're good at? Reading (especially myths and fantasy), casual cooking, embroidery, growing things, horseback riding
MENTION if they carry some sort of weapon. It's not uncommon for a Cyantian to have some sort of weapon, usually not high powered ones though and most likely for ornamentation. They also have to have permission to carry them. No guns. They make Rayne fidgety. Utilitarian pocket knife
Give an example description of your character. She stands at 4'5". She's a long haired calico (white underside with mottled brown and blacks running along her back from head to tail) with fully digitgrade feet (as opposed to the partly digitgrade feet of small mounties). She has a tendency to wear leg warmers to help protect the relatively weaker tendons, but they're rarely seen as she prefers to wear long dresses (down to her feet).
Why is it essential to your character to be here in the Mars Academy? What are their qualifications? What traits do they have that are useful to the future colony? What are their goals in being here? She finds the prospect of learning about Earth wildlife exciting, especially if she can see them. She hopes to become a vet someday, and considering how many pets and pre-techno technofamiliars are about, there is an eventual need for more vets. Otherwise she has had years of caring for animals in a farm setting.
What is your characters nature and thoughts on others of her species? A bit more withdrawn than with other species. She was picked on as a child, which makes her feel a little more hesitant to approach other mounties.
What is his or her view on other species? Hasn't had much interaction with other species except under business circumstances (buying gear, selling horses...), so has basically a neutral opinion of them.
What is your characters history? Who is or was your characters family? What were the important events of your characters past? What kind of life did they have before they arived at the academy? Prenna was born to a small silvestri family (mother, father, pet naloket, no siblings) in a small farming village comprised mostly of bobcats. Unlike most of her kind, she was born fully digitgrade instead of partly digitgrade (a trait both sides of her family claimed came from the other side of the family.) This was also picked up as a teasing point by many of the chidren in the village, who found it amusing to pull her unusally long tail (for a bobcat) to throw her off-balance (and led to a habit of hers to sometimes wrap her tail about her leg and out of the way when distressed). To avoid this, she spent long quantities of time out alone in the fields with the grazing animals. She developed a fondness for the wildlife about, tending the occassional injured animal, and caring for the herd beasts. Her parents soon gave her responsibility to care for the horses, partly because she took the time to do the job right, partly because it upset her when they ate a herd beast she knew personally. A series of droughts hit her area in her teen years, and times were tight. Crops grew poorly, and while there was barely enough to sustain the people, most of the herd beasts had to be sold or slaughtered to maintain what animals were kept. The area is slowly recovering now, but with the smaller herds her help was not as needed to tend them as before, so she was encouraged to go off to schooling with her family's blessings.
