EG kangaroos are based on Jiliac, a sentient species native to Cyantia, but made from Terran kangaroo DNA. Among the alterations EG gave them are the ability to move their legs independently, and the females' mammaries are moved to the chest (they were genetically engineered to be eye-catchers for a joke among the scientists who are a buncha jerks). Like most of Genoworks' products, their fur patterns have been altered to be more exotic and unusual, such as having stripes, long fur, or wings. The Roos were originally designed as art, but the militia took special interest in them and a number were transferred (the military claimed half, and possessed at least 17 of them). (Sink or Swim, strip 13) The Roos shown in Sink or Swim are escaped militia projects.

It is not known how exactly many Roos there are, but it is known that the military took half. (Sink or Swim, strip 264) EG kept all 7 long furs (since they were the most valuable), (Sink or Swim, strip 266) gave 2 stripes while keeping 1, (Sink or Swim, strip 268) and kept 2 of the winged ones who were thriving better while giving the rest to the military. (Sink or Swim, strip 267)

It's suggested earlier batches may not have walked as well. (Sink or Swim, strip 270)

They remained with the military for over a cycle. (Sink or Swim, strip 279) The military was disappointed with them, considering them weak, slow, fragile, and not aggressive enough, willing to run the first chance they get. (Sink or Swim, strip 284) Of all Genoworks products, they were ranked at the bottom of the combat lists, and were almost useless against Horses. (Sink or Swim, strip 286) Although they excelled in many fields, none of them possessed all the traits they were supposed to genetically possess. (Sink or Swim, strip 12) Due to not being 'perfect', the military decided to perform operations to improve them with bionics (Sink or Swim, strip 13) - most did not survive the enhancements. (Sink or Swim, strip 14)

They may be smaller than the other Genoworks creations the military took, but those who had the military training can be dangerous if sufficiently motivated to make use of their training. (Sink or Swim, strip 290)

Due to a lack of planning ahead, EG roos would find childbirth exceedingly painful due to their modifications. C-section would probably be the only way they could have kids.
