Peek into the future*

Chel was sitting in her dorm room, reading a book. It had been several months since her trip to space, meeting Lexx and the dice, and now, she was settled into a normal routine. College. Thanksgiving break this year was the usual, Thursday and Saturday without classes, four day weekend. This time she wasn't going home. Things were a little strained between her and her father due to events to unfold. Needless to say, Chel wasn't happy with him, and he was equally upset with her. Her mother had wanted her to come home, but Chel had made it clear she was going to remain on campus.

Now, she was here by herself. Her roommate had gone home. She wished that someone was there, if anything to at least speak with. It'd be nice if Lexx would drop by, but she knew he'd probably be busy and the campus wasn't the best place for him with so many people around. She was thinking about him a lot, more than she wanted to, especially when time passed by a little too quickly and the cafeteria had closed. She'd spent that much time, just wishing she could get Lexx to show up, without her having to contact him.

"Always shows up when he shouldn't,... never when he's wanted." Chel muttered to herself, glad that he couldn't hear her. She really didn't want to encourage him by showing just how much she wanted him around. She picked up the book she'd been reading and laid down on her bed, idly flipping through the pages. It was so quiet.

Reading was a good way to put Chel to sleep. She only had the light next to her bed on, and it was a soft light, perfect for reading. She was just about to drift off, the book resting against her forehead when she became aware she wasn't alone. The bed bounced slightly near the end as though someone had just sat on it. Startled, Chel jumped and threw the book with a screech.

"Hey...!" A familiar voice chuckled, fending off the book with a quick block. It wasn't Lexx,... someone else. Someone with a mass of tight blonde and black curls, tied back into a ponytail giving him an aristocratic look. His face was sharply defined and pale, with alert grey-blue eyes looking her and everything else over. He grinned, giving Chel an innocent look. "I was just checking to see if all was clear down here, didn't want another... situation."

"Riley!" Chel swung her legs off the bed, grateful that she hadn't undressed and was still in a tshirt and jeans. Her visitor took the opportunity to fall back onto her bed, arms beneath his head. He was dressed in a loose black and gold outfit that shimmered in the low light as he moved. "You know... you could at least give some warning that you're going to show up. What if I'd been undressing?!"

"Oh! Oh! I know!" Riley waved one hand in the air, as a child does in class when begging to be called upon. "I'd have been verrrry quiet!" He tilted his head and grinned again, in a way that made it impossible for Chel to be angry.

"And Lexx would kill you."

Riley rolled over and shook his head, "No way, Lexx likes me!"

"Not... that much." Lexx appeared out of nowhere and smacked Riley across the back of his head. Their new ship was outfitted with a much more efficient transporter. There wasn't a doorway, you just appeared. Riley rubbed his head and gave Lexx the usual innocent look.

Lexx coughed and straightened his own outfit. He was dressed immaculately as usual, but this was a new suit. He'd also had a hair cut so that his hair no longer hung down in front. Instead, it was all pulled back into a ponytail similar to Riley, only considerably longer. Lexx was primarily dressed in gold with red and black designs twining their way along the hem of his shirt and pants. A matching black cape was slung over his left shoulder, black on the outside, crimson on the inside.

"Chel..." Lexx smiled, nodding to her, "Are you ready to go?"

"Go?" Chel glanced around her room.

"According to our records, today is a holiday that you spend with the people you love,... not alone." Lexx mumbled the words, giving a reproachful look at Riley, who had obviously put him up to it. "Dinner is waiting."

Chel stood there, open mouthed. She hadn't expected them. She'd wanted Lexx there, but didn't seriously think he'd show up. Especially not after all that had happened. "Great!" She moved forward to join them, wondering what kind of things they would have for Thanksgiving, at least, what they'd interpret would be reasonable,... afterall, Lexx would rather free the turkeys than eat them. That thought... sent an amusing image into her head of Lexx trying just that...
