Altered States
No longer online, this was a partial story about the Rabbit-Ram War. It consisted of two interwoven stories.
One revolved around the mad Rabbit king. He was desperate for a son, and when his wife died in childbirth, he declared his daughter to be a son, and everyone was afraid to contradict him. She was raised as a prince and a spoiled brat.
The second involved a Ram farming village. There was a Ram male with a Rabbit mate. When she went to the fields with their children, she was shot by two of three young rams joining the military. The two tried to pin it on the youngest brother who claimed the blame, but tests of the guns proved the lie and the two were executed while the youngest was claimed into service by the now widower.
Altered States isn't that far in the past. At the time of Campus Safari, the Rabbit / Ram war is over, the Rabbits were more or less victorious leaving less land for the Rams. The prince(ss) of the Rabbits is grown up now as is the Ram (s)he's interested in - the two are either courting or engaged.
