Old Caste System

There are eight Castes in the fox Caste system since it was established in the year 155 by the Fox first King. Note that the Caste system does not apply for liberal the Fox parties that don't reside on Cyantzium.

White
The leader caste of the Fox. They are very rare and all descendants of Elite Fox.
Silver
Secondary caste of the Fox. They are also rare and descendants of Elite Fox. Advisors, personal body guards.
Black
Tertiary caste of the Fox. Not nearly as rare as the White and Silvers, but almost hunted to extinction by the Golden Fox. Descendants of Elite Fox.
Gold
Generic descendants of the Elite Fox. These serves as bounty hunters, law enforcers and imperial guards. It is in their culture they tend to be very single minded, stubborn and persistant in anything they do.
Orange
Your normal every day fox in color. Architects, artisans, scientists and high level working class.
Blue
Another normal fox, rarer than the Orange, Red and Goldens. These served in professional areas such as medicine, engineering and tactics. Blue and orange share their class as equals.
Red
The second largest class and the base rung of the Fox people. These are farmers, merchants and havy labor workers, as well as basic troops, pilots and militia.
Gouttouve
Below the bottom rung. Those Fox whose color does not match their class profession. This is the largest class. They are not permitted to own anything within the cities and are delegated to doing jobs that nobody else wants. They usually serve as woodfoxes, hunters, cooks, smaller mechants, herbalist and a menagerie of smaller jobs.

For a while the gold foxes were part of a genocidal push to rid their race of impurities (white, silver and black fox) without knowing that they themselves also carried the legacy of the Elite Fox in their own ranks but at a much lesser level, still above normal Fox.

Al'Rashon's Caste System

When General Al'Rashon overthrew the monarchy and ordered the Elite fox killed, he instigated a new caste system, placing himself at the top.

Royal Red
King Al'Rashon and his "son" Kiet fall into this category. They are basically really dark Reds, but Al'Rashon seperated himself from the other Reds.
Gold
The Golds' position remained mostly unchanged in function, but their hierarchy rose greatly. Under Al'Rashon's reign the Gold caste were second only to the king.
Orange and Blue
Also unchanged, although their jobs as scientists and geneticsts attracted the king's interest. It was Al'Rashon that ordered Exotica Genoworks to begin developing soldiers for the militia. He did not regard EG creations as people, only as property.
Red
The common Reds' position was unchanged.
Gouttouve
Unchanged, but they may have been even more looked down upon, as a callous attitude prevailed during Rashon's reign.

Even in the current timeline, with the caste system as a whole abolished, there are still those that adhere to one of the two systems. Many Golds in particular still adhere to Rashon's castes, and some may kill a Black, White, or Silver, and callously hunt escaped EG creations. Of course, the latter is done because of the bounty EG pays, regardless of the color doing the hunting.

Elite Fox

Any fox with white, silver, or black fur AND black skin is Elite. These were the ones targeted for extermination. It is possible for a fox to have black or white fur and have pale skin, and thus not be subject to the king's order. They would, however, probably have to have a patch of fur shaved off to show that they're not Elite. There hasn't yet been a fox shown in the GNIPs like this, indicating that a non-Elite black or white is extremely rare. Non-Elite silvers, on the other hand, are quite common, and have their own caste: Blue.
